Head Martial Arts Instructor
Mr. Griffey has been practicing martial arts since 2002, and teaching for over 15 years. In addition to karate, he has also studied other forms of martial arts including Shuri Ryu and Jujitsu. Mr. Griffey earned his 2nd degree black belt in 2009 at Karate America in Portage, where he grew up and lives with his two girls. Mr. Griffey has also worked as a plumber and a quality technician, but has returned to his passion, teaching karate to students of all ages. In fact, he’s persuaded the parents of many of our students to give karate a try. In November 2014, Mr. Griffey earned his 3rd degree Black Belt with Kicks Unlimited.
When Mr. Griffey isn’t teaching or studying karate, he enjoys spending time with his family, taking his girls to the park, or fishing. In addition, he also makes time to help his community with building low income houses and presenting seminars for boy scouts and girl scouts. Mr. Griffey is very grateful for karate. It has enabled him to meet some amazing people. He finds teaching rewarding because it allows him to give kids a reason to work hard for what they want, giving them a sense of true accomplishment that helps them beyond the karate floor.
